Converge Resources establishes recruiting hub in College Station, Texas; names Jeff Thigpen as President.

Early Days

Founded in 2019, Converge Resources was formed to solve staffing issues in the IT and Automation industries. Eric Stigge, VP of Sales, and Carlos Delgado, Recruiting Manager, were its first two employees. Working remotely from the start and up through the COVID-19 pandemic, the team was ready to weather the work-from-home storm. But lock downs did require the team to expand into new markets.

Eric Stigge is based in Houston, Texas – the 4th largest city in the United States, traditionally known as an Oil & Energy city. He shares, “When the pandemic set in, our regular Oil & Energy client needs dropped off dramatically. The job-rich market that we were used to flipped overnight, causing us to build stronger relationships with job-seekers. I shifted my own marketing approach to heavily skill-marketing professionals and even cold calling into newer industries. As a result, we picked up new clients in pet food manufacturing, financial services (credit unions), utility services, and more. The pandemic really forced us to diversify our portfolio of clients.”

Onward

Fast-forwarding to 2022, Converge Resources are answering the reinvigorated demand for its services by opening their first office – a recruiting hub – in College Station, Texas. And the company is answering its employee growth challenges by naming Jeff Thigpen as its President. Jeff was instrumental in the founding of Converge Resources, having worked with both Eric and Carlos at previous employers and in starting up this company. As the company’s “outsourced Controller”, he has been intimately familiar with the business since the beginning.

“I am definitely excited by the present and future growth ahead of us,” says Jeff. “The opportunity means that Converge Resources will need 100% of my attention, which makes my transition to President as necessary as it is natural.” When asked why College Station was chosen as a base of recruiting operations, Jeff naturally responds, smiling, “because I’m an Aggie, of course!” While there is maroon blood in the company, a few practical draws make Aggieland a smart choice in addition to the draw of an alma mater.

Strategy

First, Texas A&M University is one of the top-five largest Universities in America by undergraduate headcount. And the Career Center, founded in 1939, provides great service to current students and alumni to make professional connections. The Career Center will make a great partner to support the company’s own employee recruiting efforts, which will include recruiting internships for current students and full-time professional positions upon graduation and for experienced professionals.

Aggieland is also home to countless professional conferences, including Texas A&M Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center‘s Annual Symposium. These professional opportunities will allow Converge Resources to engage with our intended industry professionals on a regular basis.

Lastly, Recruiting head Carlos Delgado grew up in the Bryan-College Station area and lives there now. And over the past 12 months, the company has added 3 College Station residents to the team – 2 full-time employees and one recruiting intern, currently enrolled at Texas A&M.
